The Manor looks as if it comes straight from a fairytale, gone is the dark air that surrounded the house in the time when darkness personified inhabited it. The driveway is covered in Snow and the house is painted white.
Teddy is excited beyond belief. Narcissa has invited both of them for tea and they have accepted. Harry has tried to explain to Teddy that he cannpt push Draco into taking the mask of. Teddy smiled at him and said.
“If Draco needs the mask he can leave it on, it doesn´t matter to me, he is Draco with or without mask. I just want to get to know him – aunt Andy always says she misses her sister, I would hope that he is curious about us too.”
Harry cuddles Teddy and they continue their track towards the manor.
Narcissa stands in the foyer already and opens her arms to tTddy who hesitates only a little before running to her and giving her a hug. Draco who stands in the corner of the room, receives the same treatment and doesn´t dare to scold the little boy who holds on tighter after a while.
Teddy looks up at him and beams “Hi! I am your cousin!”
“Hello cousin!” Draco cracks a little smile, still hidden behind the mask, but it is a smile nonetheless.
He looks up at Harry, who smiles at him in what he hopes is a warm and friendly way. Draco's eyes widen and Harry breathes involuntarily “beautiful” too much too fast, Draco turns his face away and goes towards the living room, Teddy closely by his side, talking softly.
Narcissa smiles at Harry and her eyes twinkle very dumbledoresque.
“Just what do you think, when you look at my son, Harry?” She doesn´t wait for the answer and simply takes Harrys arm, steering him to the living room where they settle infront of a warm fire and drink tea. And even though there are no decorations yet, Teddy simply talks a mile an hour.
“Do you need help with the decorating? I am really good at putting up greens and holy! Right Uncle Harry?”
Harry laughs. “Yes squirt you are awesome at decorating.”
Draco breathes in and looks straight at Harry.
“Teddy – I don´t believe in decorating for Christmas.”
Teddy shakes his head. “But why?”
Draco falters. “We haven´t had much to celebrate during the last few years.”
Teddy cocks his head. “But now you have us, and that is something to celebrate right?”
Narcissa intervenes softly. “We could do a little decoration. Not too much just a little and you can help. We would love to have you with us and help with the task.”
Draco nods carefully. He looks as if he doesn't want to say too much, still remembering Harry's statement about being a grinch and not hurting Teddy. Harry decides to just let Teddy work his magic and simply be there, and so they come by every day bringing Christmas to Malfoy Manor little by little.
Harry never adresses the mask Draco is wearing, he simply sits with Draco playing chess and talking, not adressing the proverbial hypogriff in the room, and so the withdrawn Slytherin thaws little by little.
