“Do you think I should fix up Grimmauld Place for the holidays?”
Andy smiles to herself at the hesistant question. “Why Harry didn´t you always say that it is too much work to actually do much about the old house? You spend so much time here that you don´t need to put that much work into the house.”
Harry ducks his head to hide his blush. “ Well I was just thinking, the study downstairs is already in good shape and maybe you could come by with Teddy to see what I have done with it? Tell me if I did it right and you like it?”
Andy smiles. “You know we would love to come by and have a look, we wanted to bake cookies next weekend anyway, why don´t we do it at your place then?”
The light that shines from Harry's eyes makes her breath catch. Harry rarely looks so completely happy and at ease, but the prospect of spending time with Teddy always makes him a little happier. Harry's work takes much time but he likes it, working with Muggle parents to ensure their magical children are wellprepared for their world suits him and he is passionate about his job. But from time to time he withnesses things that make his eyes dull a little and she knows that he has another placement case then, where parents are overwhelmed and rather want their child to live in the magical world entirely. These cases are rare but they still hurt him everytime.
“So its a deal we`ll come by next Saturday and you can show Teddy what you have done for the hols this year.”
“Oh I am sure you'll love it Andy!” And with a twirl he is gone, leaving her to wonder what he is up to now. She is a little concerned that Narcissa still hasn´t answered her owl but maybe it just takes some time to get settled before they can meet up.
Saturday comes quickly and Andromeda can´t believe her eyes when she looks into the old study. The window have been replaced with white frames, matching the fireplace, the wall painted a warm red that is illuminated by soft candles, the fireplace itself if wrought with a garland of green and toped with a wreath fixed to the wall. A beautiful christmas tree stands before it, a thousand fairylights are dispersed through the room, giving it a warm and welcoming feeling.
“Oh Harry! This looks amazing!” Andy chokes a little, but Teddy hugs her, and exclaims. “Oh this is wonderful uncle Harry! Lets bake cookies now, then we can sit by the fire and eat them later!”
Harry smiles and follows them into the kitchen, where Kreacher is already kneading the dough. Seeing the grouchy old elf covered in flour, singing off key christmas carols makes Andromeda smile once more. Maybe when she gets home, the long awaited owl will be there for her and Teddy.
