The night finds Harry pouring over the old articles and reports. He is glad that due to his job he has access to all of the archives. And it helps that Ron works in the Auror Department and can give him the Malfoy file at least for a night.

Draco had gotten of easy, due to Harry's testimony but before he could come back to Hogwarts something happened, that prevented his return. Harry is searching to and finally finds the article and report that he is looking for.

“Malfoy heir severly injured in Diagon Alley attack.”

Harry stares into the flames, remembering that they had been talking a little about the incident but only a little. He had been too happy to be done with all the fighting, and so he didn´t pay too much attention. He was sure that Draco would be treated in St Mungo's and come back to Hogwart, but he never did. There was something about his vision being strongly impaired and heavy scaring due to several curses.

So maybe being abroad had been a cover for trying to help Draco regain his eyesight. His mind flashes back to the sad grey eyes that he saw behind the white mask. They obviously managed to get his eyes fixed, but what is Draco hiding behind the mask, the slyterin is vain, but it can´t be that?

Harry flips through another file and there it is, Ron has included it into the Aurorfile. Harry chokes on the tea and feels a profound pity for his former class mate.

Draco´s face had been destroyed. No other nice word for it. It looked like heavy burns had covered his entire face and the eyes. St Mungoes had managed to restore the eyes but his face remained scared.

And the curse used, Harry wishes he would know what it means. “verum anima vestra”

A clock chimes and Harry curses, he has an appointment with one of his kids.

Maya is a little older than Teddy with her ten years, and he has been working with her for almost two years, at first it was difficult for her parents to accept that her daughter was different, but now they meet up regularly and he likes her because she reminds him of a young Hermione.

He puts a cup of tea in front of her.

“How are you Maya?”

She smiles at him. “I am very good Mister Potter, I find it fascinating that so many spells are in Latin. It will help me to understand what I want to say with the spell. I have been reading so much in the last weeks.”

Harry cocks his head. “You mean?”

“Well lets see accio – the spell means the root is latin. And expecto Patronum – I await a protector.” Harry listens quietly, Maya continues to chatter and all of a sudden Harry blurts out “So what does lets say verum anima vestra mean?”

She frowns a little and translates the single words: “Anima means – spirit or soul, verum is a form of truth or true and vestra , I have no idea so far. I need to look it up but it has something to do with the true soul”

They continue to chat for a while longer and Harry gives her a few more books to read. She is well prepared already and won´t stick out like a sore thumb.

Later when he sits in front of the fire, he continues to ponder the discovery that he made and how it fits into the fact that Draco won´t show his face any longer.

this is all so exciting
really good story
and just for the geek in me, and because i feel insecure now about my latin, but is vestra not a form of vester ( vestra westrum)?
and i simply like what harry is doing, it fits him so greatly!
